Hi,
Who has experience learning new languages? Can you share your experience with us?
Offer me/us some tricks and tips on how to do it/deal with it daily.

I'll start: In my first attempt to learn German I've listened (I wasn't looking at them, they were like background noise) to a lot of movies in German and I've tried to read aloud (even if my landlady probably thought I'm mad) as much as I could, also I've bought a large German/Romanian dictionary and started to get accustomed with the vocabulary. However, after a year I couldn't continue paying a professor so I stopped learning it so hardcore and also my interest in it waned so I started to forget like most of the stuff I've learnt. I still remember a bunch of words and I can read it almost fluently, but I forgot the articles, pronouns, tenses etc.

I remember that I first learned Small Basic, then made a natural step into Visual Basic (and vb.net later on). Only took me a semester (6 months) by reading the books, practice, lot of practice.

I'd also say that once you learn your first Language, jumping into another Language is a lot easier. For example, it took me 3 months to learn my third language which was C (even though C syntax is a little different from Small Basic and vb). Then to learn Python in just 1 month. I literally learned Java within a week.

More recently I've learn Javascript in 3 days

You have to immerse yourself in the language , be surrounded by it , also every language is different some are hard some easy.
Also the younger you are the easier it will be to learn it and not forget it in my experience, but really just use it often and practice, practice and practice

Learning my second language (English) was pretty easy, I basically watched American Dad, Simpsons, CSI Miami, Criminal Minds and other TV Shows and Movies to seize the language, then english classes at school complemented my english with grammar and phrasal coordination.

Watch good movies/shows with English subtitles and 'x' language audio. Once your better at it switch to both 'x' language and audio, or switch them around so you can learn a bit of both.
Personally, I only got to the first option therefore I only speak/understand a second language via sound, I can't read it!

Also I'm sure there are more organized ways than what I mentioned but it's what worked for me. Main reason it worked is because it gave me a reason to watch movies.

What do you think about War Thunder

Good game of course, it's Russian, but it is somehow way more realistic, with track-brake driving (like in real life) and manual turret traverse, so it's hard to pull some shots and drive the way you want sometimes, it's less dynamic sort to say, than its counterpart World of Tanks which still stick to mouse aim and 'gta' driving.

But plane (dog)fighting in War Thunder is epic, no complains there, all the best, i can't compare it to World of Warplanes or other flying war games, but for 15vs15 ww2 multiplayer its the best i found.

It takes alot of time to play and grind your way up, so i can't play both WoT and WT, i chose WoT, bought skorpio, while i only play WT from time to time, usually when there's test server so i can buy MiG-15/17 which is top tier.

Well learning English for me came easy since its most used language here, Few other factors came into play too.. The Maori language was only ever a verbal language so the English invented the alphabet for them using english characters so when i started with english learning written was easy as it used same letters and verbal was easy too as it was always used. a few problems i have though is that i don't structure my sentences very well but thats just because i dont think before writing, i just keep writing what it is in my head before really thinking whether its grammatically correct or where it should be in the paragraph. ive always struggled with spelling and grammar, I might be mildly dyslexic or am just a idiot... probably both xD . The trick to learning languages is very simple, practice practice practice practice... it helps when you have to use it in your daily life to get by as well.

Are you trying to tell me your one of those war dance fellas from new Zealand?

Everyone is.

Well I'm not from there I thought I remember watching something about it. Would it be correct to say new Zealand was incorporated into the empire (uk) like Hawaii was with the usa. What I mean is are you now more like a mix of white and brown, like native Hawaiians are.
