Obsession?

I'm curious as to what you guys think of using technology for pleasure. We obviously all do it since we are here playing this game, but I mean using it for more than that. Like, do you think that the extent that technology has reached with several FPS and RPG games is good? Honestly it's mind blowing and amazing, and basically art. On the consumer side though, is this obsession with games really good? Like the headphones-on-fully-focused-living-in-another-world type of gamers, where these games are their life and they aren't doing anything else. Technological advancement is great, obviously advances in science and technology is very progressive, but do you think it should be directed elsewhere? Away from the mass gaming addiction area, perhaps into making easier and MORE FUN AND ATTRACTIVE education, or something of the sort. Just wondering what you guys think. Personally I think using technology to have some fun is fine, but trust me it can get overwhelming. Hell, even playing AW can take over your day and obligations. I can regulate myself and many people can/do/should, but some people just get carried away...

So, do you think that production of these addictive and life-taking games is overall beneficial for our worldly community? If so, why and how, and if not why, how, and what are the alternatives.
