Mods, don't join our private games, I don't care what your excuse is. Especially if its a tournament match. I made it private for a reason to stop people from spying. Stop being nosey.

Been quite unsure about this for a while, but yes this is definitively worth a discussion. Pros of mods being able to enter to private games: - Catch players teaching bugs to other players. - Catch REAL HACKERS exploiting/testing hacks in-game (do note that hack is not bug). The above are the only really good reason I can think of... Cons of mods being able to enter to private games: - Lack of privacy for the user - top important reason. You make the game private because you don't want certain people to spectate. - If the player is testing a new expansion, mods can see this. This is quite unfair. - If the player is doing a tourney match, mods can see this. Again, unfair if the player is featuring out a special expansion/gameplay for tourney. - If the player opened the game to talk with a group of players, mods can read the content of such talk (kinda point 1). So... I would bet for a reform of the ability, perhaps allow mods to stay there for few seconds, to be able to read only the chat or whatsoever.

Mods do alot of things they shouldn't be doing. I think in the history of AW things like this that hurt moderators, wont happen. Amok & Ivan are not even wasting their times on anything related to this game, not like they have time to implent a thing like this.

It's not about implementing anything, mods can moderate themselves and each other. We just want to throw this out there for future reference.

If we had active admins it wouldve been nice if theyd made it so that it is announced in chat when a mod enters a private game without the pw.

I'm nice. I only watch private matches if there are suspicious things going on; mostly SP farming on custom maps and players on multiple accounts. Usually involving non-competitive players. Idc about private matches among clan members (3v3 training), 1v1, duels, or tournament matches. Players who play these matches dont care about SP, thus, they won't be farming (...any more!).

If you arent doing anything in violation to aw rules (teaching bugs , hacks , farming etc) then you have nothing to be scared of , mods are only doing their job of trying to prevent bad things happening imo...

Yeah I never join private games unless in suspicion of SP farming/bugging etc, and I'm sure most do the same. it's funny this reminds me of something similar that I heard a story of: some old srb guys did a very specific ukr expansion in prep for a tourney game and someone watched their game and the tourney opponent did a perfect counter to this very specific expansion. (yes im being vague so someone doesnt bring it up) so yes this thing is prone of happening, but i'd say very highly unlikely among the current mod staff

It's perfectly likely, why else would I have made a thread about it? I just decided to not name any mods who did it.

I'd suggest PM'ing those mods your concerns, because the general consensus is for mods to not enter private games without suspicion of something.

To tl;dr this thread: Basically, mods are voyeurs and everyone who starts a private game has to take the risk that they're being cuckolded Some people are being insecure about that, while mods try to defend how 'nice' they are

Lol all these fake mods replying, they all joined my private games to inspect my superior, original, game-changing expansions - but little did they know that I would always leave the game once I finished the expansion seeing as I KNOW nothing can go wrong. Take that brianwl drtrollface chess cthulhu heatcheck desu sun tzu safari meester pulse prometheus caulerpa dinoscout madara columna durruti the tactician milkytank ivan amok, also I remember laochra watching my games since he copies every ukraine expansion I do.

To be fair I abuse moderator power pretty often, I often mute plebs for no reason at all and spam warning. I also join private games to steal player expansions, I normally do this before a tournament game so I can counter my opponent's turn 1 perfectly. Sometimes I even farm SP using an alternate account of mine, using moderator power again to know exactly when someone I should be cautious of comes online. Here is some incriminating proof.

Good point, and like others have said this is already something the mod staff avoids by and large. If anyone ever has an issue with mod behavior pr'ing that mod, or another mod is the best course of action however. Locked at request of the OP.
