Since there are so many worries about myself only, let's do a brief review of the dueling scene situation with the aim of actually contributing with something constructive:

The leaderboard:

This is what we have at the moment:

- Njab: quite good player, nothing really important to mention because he does same as everyone here does. He duels whoever joins his duels, no matter if it is a rank 3 - 15.

- Xcolo, Flume, Don: strong players, strong duelist. They will duel whoever joins their duel. If you take a look at their duel history, they have dueled very good players and have an amazing record.

- Franz: rank 6, farming low ranks in beginners... I probably don't need to mention that he does not have the skill level any of us does.

- Manhunter: alt, lost his main long time ago, came back to the game after long time inactive.

- Comedian RaulPB: I lowered my sp in order to do some justice and duel dmx, a guy who is in the learderboard by dueling lower ranks than him. Any other solution on your mind? I am not farming any different from what Njab might be doing. I even have a rank 5/6 limit in my duels but I won't be waiting for any high rank to join my duels, I'll play whoever joins it.

- ArronNaik: a rank 3 account... a guy that has come back after some time and forgot the username he used to have (he was rank 5/6). He is more skilled than a normal rank 3 and is willing to improve even further, hence we dueled (no upgrades) and I taught him a couple things as well. He can vouch for that. Still, he shouldn't be where he is by just farming low ranks.

- Dmx: Rank 9 which always has rank 9 limit for duels and plays low skilled players. Any minimum skilled high rank would be able to beat him easily.

- Aqollo: Former rank 10. Now in another account, which is r8. Fine player, topic already discussed, we moved on.

- Gow: another high rank player.

- Canchito: go canchito goooo!!!! I dare anyone say anything mean about this cute but devastating rank 7.

Let's go to the constructive part of this thread:

Imo, seasonal elo has been a great implementation. But as everything else, it has flaws. What can we see this/last/whatever season which can be considered unfair or not representative of a competitive spirit?

- Low ranks dueling in beginners room.
- Middle or High ranks abusing the rank limit feature.
- High ranks playing against low ranks.
- Alts farming noobs.
- Elo gambling or elo gifting.

Now comes the proposal time

What can we possibly do to remove this issues that afect the competitive aspects of this game? I have listed the problems I think we have with several solutions, each one being alternative of the others.

- Low ranks dueling in beginners room.

  • Disable duels for low ranks (1-4/5 shouldn't be able to duel).
  • Create an independent league for low ranks.
  • Remove beginners' room and implement a rank limit on games made by low ranks so they can have fun without high ranks joining their games.
  • Set elo limits instead of rank limits for duels.

- High ranks abusing the rank limit feature.

  • Remove rank limit feature for duels, where it simply doesn't make much sense.
  • Implement a minimum interval of ranks where you must duel. For example, +/- 3/ ranks.
  • Set elo limits instead of rank limits for duels.

- High ranks playing against low ranks.

  • Disable duels for low ranks (1-4/5 shouldn't be able to duel).
  • Create an independent league for low ranks.
  • Set elo limits instead of rank limits for duels.

- Alts farming noobs.

  • Removing them from the elo competition once spotted.
  • Disable them from making duels?
  • Not granting medals.

- Elo gambling or elo gifting.

  • Punishment when noticed: removal of elo or removal from the competition.

Any thoughts, opinions or whatever you feel saying? Just don't flame pls. This isn't a place to accuse, rather to find solutions...

First of all I'd like to state that I've never heard of an incident where admins Ivan and Amok had reduced someone's rank upon request, the only time I saw this was whenever someone SP farmed which is an obvious reason to. I'm pretty sure this is a recent thing that Sun Tzu did and is pretty stupid -

Hormigatomica is the first account that springs to mind

I don't think he ever had his sp lowered..well, he might of, idk lol it shows he's a rank 11 but i remember him being rank 9 so I'm confused

Yes, it´s farming cause you are taking advantage from your experience dueling lower ranks.

This definition of farm is pretty interesting.

Why do u think it´s interesting?

There are 2 odds of farming in duels:

- one of them, being a high rank and dueling low ranks directly.
- and the second one is making alts accounts being a high rank and dueling low ranks, you are taking advantage of your experience, cause you are not really a rank 4 or 5, you are only in upgrades, but you are a high rank hidden in an alt account who know lot ot tips, tricks, moves, etc etc etc...

That´s farming too.

I don't know much about dueling but why not have elo brackets based on your overall elo at the beginning of the season. Something like 1000-1100 bronze bracket 1101-1250 silver bracket and 1251-9999+ gold bracket. Top 3 players in each bracket get a medal, after each season whatever your elo is at, at the end is what bracket you compete in next season.

Biggest issue for me... is season ending clock.
Its like, everybooody knooows season is ending in 7 hours, 13 minutes and 34 seconds and suddenly everyone starts to duel (farm. grind)

4 hours until season ends and im at 3. place, which i have been for the basically entire season, but 2 hours later im literally watching at work how pontez who wasnt even top 5 the whole season is suddenly doing duel after duel after duel grinding, grinding
And then im cursing America and season ending on their time and im like searching Al qaeda sites to try to make a donation and shit like that...

Regulate the season ending for fuck sake, limit the number of duels one can do in the last week at least

This sounds too much like LoL. I'm not sure I like the elo climbing idea and Goblin is right on his comment

First of all, (I'm a big fan of your comments )

Going down to business, maybe we should keep in secret the last day of the season because I'm not sure it is possible to restrict the number of duels played.

I'm not too sure about hiding the season end. In fact, other games actually duplicate the points earned just to encourage competition in the last days, because they're the days in which the players does their 101% in order to get in the scoreboard.

Nonetheless I understand the problem with players joining the competition in the last month or week and winning a prize, this is just because with the current system the positions are easy to achieve / changes. I for example scored a very high seasonal ELO that stayed for months but still got pressured by Opi whom just came to join the ladder few days ago.

The adrenaline from the last days of the season should not be removed. I'd support any other proposal that without affecting the last days prevents dark-horses from reaching the top.

Ah yes, and is it the only account that springs to mind? He's still rank 11 so I'm not really sure there but there must be a reason why you cut out the rest of what I wrote. Don't take this as a personal attack Sun Tzu, but I think we can both agree that reducing your rank and keeping your upgrades wasn't how this game was planned.

Not all of us can stay up all night grinding on the last few hours... because the other son of a bitch has nowhere to go in the morning

Edit: simplest suggestion... limit the number of seasonaly rated duels

Edit2: work out the details... whatever

I'm not sure on how many duels everyone plays in a season but maybe something like 100 duels minimum (can be changed) in order to qualify for the leaderboard; then there should probably be a "not qualified" tab for the duel season section so it's not boring at the start of the season.

I already explained that it's not possible to such a farmer reach top 3 positions. Matthew and Flamma were tryharders, but Matthew is banned, starting duels in game isn't allowed anymore and it looks like Flamma gave up (he's an alt too).

This is not really what i meant... my idea was basically limiting the number of your games that get rated to lower grinding and farming succes

Edit: ok i got it... after certain amount of agreed duel wins... thats your seasonal elo. So fighting and wining vs equal or better oponents is more fruitful

Thoughts... issues?

I can only think of two issues with this, 1 is that people might start refusing to duel someone else. 2nd is that you could just grind at the start of the season to get the wins and stop dueling (kinda like the old old CW systems when only first 10 games were counted)

I think we can improve on this basis with my original idea though, so after >100< duel wins you qualify, and you can keep improving your elo. (that number can be changed if it needs to be)

Since there has been some talk about players SP being intentionally reduced without proper cause, I'm going to go ahead and fill you guys in on the situation at hand.

Moderators only lower players SP when there is foul play at hand. We do not take request from players to intentionally have their SP removed. This has been our policy for a long time and is unlikely to change.

The recent issue came about because Sun Tzu started lowering player SP upon their request. You can't really blame him as our policy on the matter was decided a long time ago and was never really listed anywhere. I've gone ahead and restored affected players(those I could find) to their original SP state. I can assure you that such incident won't happen again, as I'll make a post about this in the moderator forum as soon as possible.

Edit: bla i dont think we understand each other... you propose to me an idea that doesnt help with an issue i have with the season

But w/e ...im not playing this crap grind fest with shits fucking me up in the last second ever again... while they refused to duel me

I think I was a little unclear on my proposal, my problem with a limit is that you should be able to play as many duels as you want and keep playing after a certain qualifying goal is met, so that you can still duel and get 2 elo but also have people better/equal trying to lower your elo in which you get that 15 elo.

Let's say everyone just duels people with around the same elo or higher, what will happen to those with lower elo? They could simply be refused to duel them because "they're not worth it", especially if people are closing in on the certain limit goal (say 100). Or there comes a situation where people might not duel a particular person if they're at 90 wins and pose a threat to their chances of winning the season.

If duel wins are hard to achieve maybe like 200 duel games to qualify or w/e people will agree on, so that even if someone joins in the last month, they probably deserve it.

The only reason I wouldn't want Incognito duels is I want my enemy to know what they're up against, how flexible/predictable each is and all the mind games ofc, but I like the auto duel idea.
