We're working hard on a solution that prevents griefing and direct banning (as in, I don't like that guy, I'm going to ban him from my games).

You can't prevent that, it's a necessary evil that comes with the ban list.

Their map, their rules. Don't see why there is any real problem as to the addition of a ban list. If a person spends weeks creating a map, they should have the right to ban whomever they want.

That's not a very good argument.

omg ,,,,,,, are you serious ?? By that argument Amok should disable the game for all countries except estonia. It is important that no features of the game be misused to make the game an unpleasant experience for anyone.

Anyone who thinks that we shouldn't be able to ban who we want are clearly mad, we spend hours (well atleast the good map makers) making maps. We deserve that right, if you think we are ass holes guess what... MAKE YOUR OWN MAP.

Don't make maps for your ego! Make them for fun and to deliver quality to the game. If you just want a bunch of players able to enjoy them, then just do not publish them.
Yes, the ban list is coming up very soon; it is in its final programming stage. We just want to make sure that this feature is not going to be abused in any sense. Justify the ban of a specific player and not just "because he didn't want to ally me last game, so I ban him from this map" kind of reasons.
Shall map-makers really have the power to ban whoever they want from a map they've made? Shouldn't they have to argue as to why they have banned a specific player from a specific map? A map or scenario is like a private property of public interest, which means that there is a higher responsibility of managing them well (SP farming maps, ban list, etc.).

I hardly think anyone would ban someone for petty reasons like not allying them. Hardly any respected map maker would ever ban someone for that. I only have trolls enemylisted so clearly my enemylist is something that should be enforced. And good to know that it's coming very soon. Have a nice weekend

In addition, I do make them for fun. Which is why it is so annoying when trolls, and retards ruin it. I have put so much effort in trying to make people have fun, then these trolls ruin it. You're a map maker, you should know how I feel.

you just declared in your other thread you're going to banlist players in tempteds legion because thier leader made a map you dislike. players who have broken no aw rules or etiquette, or done anything at all to you.
now thats petty. and there will be other map makers who will be even worse than you.

Those map makers who will act worse than me are probably incompetent ones, and no one would play their maps apart from them. And those players in tempted legion are far from perfect, and yes they have done things to me.

So actually you recognize that there might be a set of maps that only "friend-listed" players will be able to play. That's all I wanted to point out: it is not a "simple" issue and has to be well thought-through to avoid a further fragmentation of the community.

I didn't say it couldn't be abused. Just that only the "bad" map makers would abuse it, and since their maps are bad,... who cares? :0
