I think it would add to the game to have subs, and stealth bombers be able to enter Overwatch mode. This is a defensive skill in which the unit cannot have moved this turn, when the unit enters overwatch, a small circle of area aroudn the unit is created in which any enemy unit passing through this circle will be attacked (intercepted if they move through it). The unit cannot make moves when in over-watch, and also it takes 1 turn to exit over-watch. So it takes 1 turn to enter and 1 turn to exit over-watch, this is important for balance, and provides a negative to aspect along with the benefit of the skill. The usage of this skill is mainly to counter Transports, and to a lesser degree stealth units. When transports are used from a city to another city it is difficult to intercept them and no body even needs to provide protection to their transports in these scenario'a. Over-watch would make using transports unprotected much more dangerous. Picture Greece, it is easy to assault from turkey with a transport in 1 turn, no easy way to defend against it except defence lines, now imagine a single sub placed in the way on over-watch, if a single transport tries to cross, it will die, however if it has an escort of a couple bombers, or destroyers it would survive the over-watch attack. Air transports can be spammed a little to easy right now, a stealth bomber on over-watch could cost you quiet a bit if you don't protect your transports with bombers. I think this would be a fun, and interesting addition, and would add some more tactics to the game, along with making naval combat more interesting, and integral to the game.

I have to say no. First: That would be extremely hard/impossible to code. Second: Attacking anything would become impossible. If you took out the "intercepted if they move through it" part, it would be at least semi-feasible. Still, it would have little use besides fucking over stealth units in the pacific, which can already be done pretty easily.

Hmmm, Well first of all I think people should not discard an idea because in their opinion it would be too "Hard" or "Impossible" to code. I think the makers of the game have the privilege to do so. It does sound like a tactical benefit to this game. It is not weak yet a bit on the powerful side. As said before stealth + attack when near the stealth WITHOUT doing anything = quite powerful If there is anything that should have this powerful attack it should be a new unit that focuses on doing so. However this unit would be weak in attack and/or defense when not using it's ability.

Well, how about if only a single unit can be in the stack when using this ability? There-fore its only purpose is to force escorts on transports?

you forgot to address my other point. - buy shitload of overwatch units - spread them all around your cities - ?? ?? ?? - PrOFIT!!11eleven! Nothing would be able to attack anything, unless you split up stacks into individual units. Think turn blocking, but on steroids, and then injected with HGH, with 5 additional pituitary glands. Not to mention that: - Afterwind is essentially a turn based strategy game. We have no unit detection during a turn, only after the turn is done. - We don't have automated movement yet - Even if we did, we don't have automated attack yet. No offense, this just wouldn't work. Besides, transports are a part of the game, and they aren't cheap or unfair in any way. They can easily be destroyed with a couple of bombers, and if someone is one turn's distance away from you, you should be expecting them to attack.

1. Buy shit load of over-watch units- These units are costing you money to sit there doing nothing. Many ways to solve this, 1. make is a sub only ability 2. make it so you can only have a certain amount of distance between over-watch units. 3. the over-watch radius could be relatively small, enough to block say the entrance between Norway and Denmark. 4. if sub only, it can only effect units over water. turn blocking is an issue that needs to be addressed by he devs anyways, in which only units killed should be stopped., any survivors should move on.

Infantry cost money too, and so do sentry planes, but that doesn't stop people from having hordes and hordes of them. These would essentially be sentry planes with an even better view radius with the ability to automatically attack. Making it a sub only ability would make it even worse, as now it would only be overpowered for coastal capitals, and not inland ones. So London, LA, Tokyo, etc would have a big advantage over Moscow and New Delhi. Plus, if they became submarine exclusive, wouldn't that defeat the purpose? They'll just use air transports and avoid the water. Making it have a tiny radius would still make it OP for coastal capitals, as the entryway for these capitals is often very small. I agree that the devs need to get rid of turn blocking.

We have to make a player movement to improve the game as is before adding possible balance changers (cargo ships). Last time when some of us gathered a lot of suggestions we got a positive response, we just have to wait for the holiday season to be over. Here

I did see your other point Indo, I referred the original idea of him to "A bit on the powerful side". One other solution I have been thinking of is a one use for the units. See it as a land-mine or a sea-mine. But then again that would probably destroy the whole idea.

I have a question: What would happen to Sentry Planes? They would all die trying to detect the stealth unit :/
