How to free units stuck too close to enemy city?

I can't access them wherever i click. I hope there is a way to free them that experienced players know about.

The 4 units are mine:

Do you have an image to show us how is the situation because i am not sure what kind of trapped units you are talking about ?

Oh well that doesnt happen very often , it had happened to me too but i figured out the only way to use your unit over the city is to atack the enemy city.
Only way to get your unit away is if you are allied or peace with the player that owns the city , also you can click on the unit to move it but its hard .
Its best if you leave it there it can be like an unkillable wallfuck

Yes, i'd like to attack the city, the problem is i've tried to click on every pixel around it but still can't select my army. (The purple is an ally.)

Would be important because it is last day of the week and the city has 600+ income too.

I know it has happened to me lots of times.

dont click directly on your units rather around them but as far away as possible from the city , also zoom out a litte bit and try again , or zoom out as max as you can
but at the rate at which you still can see the number on your units then try and click on them (not directly , at the edge on them away from the enemy city).
Try it , i hope it works

no problem , its actually a glitch those kind of things shouldnt happen but yeah no problem just do that every time it happens to you
