It's been 10 months since the HTML update and it's still riddled with server issues. with half the people in a game timing out at the same time, that can't be coincidence it must have something to do with the servers. and then there's the map editor, which is still in Silverlight which causes quite a lot of bugs on maps and scenarios in transferring maps from server to server and isn't really showing any progress as far as I can tell.
let's look at the news section and see what what updates have actually been happening. updated rules, Loachra retiring from ModeratorTeam, there's an update, changes to duels. let's see what it says
"Duels are now only possible in specially created 1v1 games. Select "Duel" as game type in the initial game settings screen. This option is now available for non-Premium players as well.

The option to declare duels mid-game has been removed.

It's also now possible to start a new Casual Duel game without waiting for the other player (previously both players had to be present to start a game)."
allright that's not very big but it is nice, let's look further.
Merchandise, Twitter, Facebook, Merchandise again, Twitter competition, ooohh new Upgrades, that's actually pretty good but let's see what else they did in the 10 months since the HTML version.
win 300 days premium, merchandise, default rank limits, translators needed, new connection method, competition, internal ads, competition winner, server maintenance, competition, happy new year, volunteers for Wikipedia ohh and here is a list of features, that looks promicing

"So here's what we've been up to in the past month:

We've now got a completely new and revamped tutorial, along with videos, detailed descriptions and helpful indicators!
that's pretty nice but it wasn't really neccesary

"Map/scenario editors early preview is now available. Feel free to poke around, it's all there. Saving is disabled at the moment for the obvious reasons (don't want people ruining their hard work with it in case something goes wrong). Many things are still not working, so please refrain from logging any bugs for now. It's just there to give you a general idea of how things would look like."
allright but that was in November 2015, the finished map editor is still unavailable

Some very annoying bugs got fixed too:

"Chat fails to load on non-English versions"
that's good, it was indeed annoying.

"Mouse wheel zoom and unit dragging not working for some"
allright bug fixes are always nice but there are ways to get around this such as using the + and- buttons and manually selecting the units

"Games getting stuck at 'Loading map (6/7)' "
that was a good bug to fix

"Able to attack people after clicking declare war before the turn ends"
I can see that being a major problem, good on atwar for fixing it

"Disable all diplomacy in FFA games (0 alliances) "
allright, this is a bit vague in that it doesn't really show whether it is no longer possible or that it is now possible but wasn't before.

"People who levelled to rank 5 can no longer enter their ongoing Beginner games."
I actually think this should be reversed

"Not possible to host CWs on custom maps"
I am not participating in CW's so I don't actually know if this was a problem or not, but again it is kind of vague in that it doesn't tell us whether it was possible before but no longer or the other way round

"Colour code chat channel name in chat selector"
that wasn't really neccesary but still it's an update

these were made in november 2015, which was one month since the HTML update, if they managed to do all of that in one month. why are the only updates since then changes to duels, new upgrades, the internal ads system a new connection system and default rank limits? I mean I guess the new connection system may have taken a while to create but I haven't had any trouble connecting anyway. but the thing is, everything that has been done since the bug fixes one month after HTML release were minor updates, and it has been 2 months since the last one. where is the map editor? I think that should be a bit higher in the priorities. and what about all the suggestions in the "Ideas and suggestions" thread. 30 max players, free-to-host promoted maps, wager matches, a buff for RA etc.
these seem like pretty good suggestions to me. sorry if this is too much of a pain in the... you know what I mean. sorry if this was hard to read but I just had to get it out of my system.

The tutorial was necessary. As it stood it was far too vague. I figured out how to play atWar by myself by watching CWs and forum guides. The tutorial was no help at all beyond basic moves. Pr-ing a higher rank for help was useless too, their reply being more on the lines of 'piss off noob'. That, or just farming for SP.

I see, I'm not going to argue with you on that one. you're right, I was wrong. my point still remains though, where are the updates?

I know the admins have their own lives but this shouldn't be so hard to do. I suggest every week or two weeks there should be news posts updating the players on whats been done (the past week or two) with maybe pictures , because the updates haven't really effected me and I want to see work being done instead of promises.

Btw, if they have fixed this, it's still happening to me...
-"Games getting stuck at 'Loading map (6/7)' "
that was a good bug to fix

The updates that have been released since the HTML move are decent but it doesn't give us anything more to do or it doesn't change things to make us happy (except from a few bugs).

With the HTML map maker still not up, I've slowly got bored of playing maps, it's all the same thing now. Many of the players wont switch browsers to map make.
It's also annoying how the SL map maker has been down for a week or so.

I maybe asking a bit much, Idk but I really want to see changes that make us happy to see or at least something that effects everyone.

Great Post! Hopefully we can get a few of the staff to notice this!

WTF can you do that mods and admins aren't already doing? You're a rank 7 with no premium let alone a blue or red shield. Yours is hardly the first post on the topic either and people are fed up of them.

Although, as much as you'd like for there to be updates every two weeks because your attention span is literally less than a fish, let's stop and think for a second. You have probably already noticed that the player base isn't very large, doesn't even reach the thousands. Which means very little to no funds are coming in for the admins. This means that admins spend less time because this isn't their actual job, more of a hobby for them. Admins have real lives and have things people have to do to make a living. Cut them some slack, unless you'd like to fund their organization, there is no need to complain, this is a FREE TO PLAY game. So stop complaining.

Thanks

Lol what exactly have you done for the game?? What can you do for the game when you're rank 7 and not a mod or admin?
The sheer narcissism being displayed by you is sickening.

He bought premium so he is directly funding the game.

Whether it's free or not it should be common courtesy to speak to your consumers and deliver what they bought accordingly. In the case of the map editor nobody is entirely upset about it not being out but the fact that we've constantly been lied to about it.

With everything there has to be a standard. Otherwise we'll get shit products.

Amok and Ivan aren't working as a team, I'm not sure if they know the same languages but awhile ago Ivan said he finished his part while amok was working on the editor. I'm not sure what language the editor is using but if it something Ivan is fluent in then he should pick up his slack amd prioritize over other things.

I feel bad if they have stuff going on, but they deserve flack for leaving us in the dark. We paid 40$+ for this shit and we can't get a single update explaining what the fuck is happening.

The game is unstable at the moment, but they are very lucky this is a resilient and strong community.

Speak for yourself Aurum, there are quite of few of us, Hellykin for one example, if you had bothered to read any of his posts in the forum you would know, that are quite upset about the lack of the HTML 5 map editor being available. And the Silverlight map editor is NOT a solution to this. Otherwise I agree with you.

I guess you're right, I didn't think of that.

They make 3k revenues of this game per month and server costs 130 a month, so no he's not right.
