Hi! Throughout RP's existence, it has been loved, but also despised. This has only escalated ever more throughout the time period it has been with the community. Recently, I posted in the thread "Soon it will die out", and came up with an idea I think might make a compromise between the two very different styles of game play not just for our community but every game, and I would like to see the community's reaction.

What if we could get some well-published map makers to make maps specifically designed to focus on a struggle of one particular area in competitive play; economy and army size/composition. As we know, RP combines insane economies and OP units that make the game incredibly easy to manage. However, making a role-play map with very poor countries who must make the right decisions to rise their economy and wage war effectively, or making a role-play map with slightly OP economies but unit compositions and city values that make sizes and attack/defense/HP/etc values very difficult to fight with, thus making strategic warfare a key element to victory. These are the two very basic things a player MUST learn to function competitively in AtWar; RPers are deemed unskilled noobs who can't win without OP units and capital, but with this, they can still enjoy a laid-back, recreational game that also prepares them to fight in other scenarios.

Problems with this is that with a RP element still available, diplomacy is an issue. However, this is the case for EVERY game without a prewritten scenario to manage the diplomacy according to the desires of the map maker(s). So, this shouldn't be a set back in making these maps when it will atleast be a step forward in no longer dividing the community and integrating a far easier, and less insulted, transition from styles of game-play.

Thoughts on this?

Take any of the maps that has been elaborated for the "competitive map contest" and make a scenario out of it (to include the so called "RP stuff"). People wouldn't play it... because it would be to competitive and "not enough money and units"... and stuff like that).

I agree with you Aleph... but... as long as those noobs have their own RP with huge amounts of money, OP units, etc... they won't play anything else. That's a fact. They just want easy games, that's all. I've talked with some of those damn noobs and they couldnt care less about the skills and smart moves. They just want to spam 1k units and even have spare money with that.

Well... ANYWAY, my suggestion would be either forgetin about those noobs or first deleting that damned RP map.

I suggest you get over it. There are players that are not eager to learn the depth this game can have. Some of the current RP players will eventually evolve into skillful competitive players, once they get bored of the RP games. Then they will play Ancient scenarios, WWI and WWII, etc. Finally some will get to the 1v1/2v2/3v3/CW world... it is the natural selection process.
Finally, those who stay with RP/UN/WG50k games, will eventually stop playing. It is like getting a cheat for a game; you will very fast loose interest in this game!

Create an RP room... like a beginner's room, only where SP is nerfed to 10%. Let's see if it's about the RP, or the SP. - gotta keep 'em separated ~ offspring.

Two questions,
1. How do you propose to distinguish RP games from non-RP games? Note that players will be trying their utmost to make their RP games in the regular room to avoid the SP reduction, and
2. Why 10% SP? Where did you get this figure?

1. RP games are any games that people call RP. obviously, if someone made a new "RP" map, im sure people would be able to tell due to seeing the 20 remakes that follow a normal RP game.

2. 10% is a great figure because instead of getting 3k from an RP game, you now get 300. Basically, you're allowed to ally fag and gangbang people so long as you pay a tax of 90% (we can call it a Noob Tax if that makes everyone happy).

1. The AW community is fairly skilled at identifying 'RP' maps. It is a style of play, coupled with maps that offer generous incomes. If they were in the main lobby, they'd be outted fairly quickly. Over time, RP maps could be relegated to the 'RP' room and perhaps eventually removed from the main lobby.

2. This figure was derived from a number of quantum equations, and includes multivariate analysis coupled with matrix string theory dimensions, so it applies in parallel universes, and alternate realities, including the reality RP players manifest during their games. It is essential the figure not be tampered with, as it may have unforeseen effects in other dimensions.

► RP is easy to manage.
► RP have a lot of money.

Sure, I'l just leave this quote here:

–
Escrito por clovis1122, 01.10.2014 at 20:35

I also went so far for join a RP: I'l tell you some lies about the map:

1) " 50k is too much starting money". Well check this: I only took 3 part of Russia and I was already down to 2.2k, with a 4.4k economy.
Link for proof one.

2) " The map have a lot of income". Yes, the map does. And the units also does. Even with IMP, you will get broked trying to buy tanks with 11 attack and 280 cost. Link for proof two.

3) This is actually not a lie, but the situation of the european scenario by turn 10:
Link for proof Three.

For the rest I support the idea of stop the war between rp and competitive players. The only two ways for stop this is when either RP dies, or Competitive players start to respect our freedom.
