Some of you might recall a few weeks back I made my first initial post on the AtWar community forums. Since then, thanks to the wonderful community who has assisted me in ways I could not imagine, I have found an easy to adopt way for those who enjoy playing the entire world map on Perfect Defense. I start off with a quote from Admiral William H. McRaven, Ninth Command of the U.S. Special Operations Command. This was delivered in a speech to University Graduates. "Every morning in basic SEAL training, my instructors, who at the time were all Viet Nam veterans, would show up in my barracks room and the first thing they would inspect was your bed. If you did it right, the corners would be square, the covers pulled tight, the pillow centered just under the headboard and the extra blanket folded neatly at the foot of the rack—rack—that's Navy talk for bed. It was a simple task-mundane at best. But every morning we were required to make our bed to perfection. It seemed a little ridiculous at the time, particularly in light of the fact that were aspiring to be real warriors, tough battle hardened SEALs-but the wisdom of this simple act has been proven to me many times over. If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter." This is both applicable in real life, and here. The basic analogy behind it that corresponds with Perfect Defense is to make your "bed"; effectively, your capital country. Develop it, spam infantry in a few cities, and wall it. If you complete that, you complete your first task. And with that first task comes many others completed. Your second objective is to setup a defensive net. around your countries. If you are an American or European power, either produce Bombers or Destroyers and create around 16 of them. Place them in a line vertically across the Atlantic or Pacific and have two planes each. Effectively, it's a wall. It lets you have flexibility with attacking targets or threats overseas, and also acts as an early detection system. Next, you expand. Do NOT capital hop cities (unless they are mere one city countries). Capture the capital first, then, take over the countries cities and then move on. You do not realize how much of a benefit they are to your strategy. Those extra tidbits of cash, 43 here, 20 there, add up, and with the whole country bonus, you could potentially be making close to 300 a turn. Combine that with doing that for about 4 similar countries, with troop expenses estimated at 400-500, you make 800 cash spare a turn. Play to your strategy. "Defense" means defend. Don't simply infantry spam because it's cheap, expand your options. Create destroyers and put them in the Mediterranean, create sentry planes and spy on enemy countries from a distance, wall with a variety of units, such as Marines. With the influx of cash your making from those extra captured cities, you'll have the capacity to afford these units. Infantry spam mostly in your capital. Finally, be prepared to act. If there's a large emerging threat coming from the middle east, and you are in Europe, set country boundaries for expansion, and then wall them up extensively. If the "threat" fails to attack you, you still have quite a few units with that wall that can help you expand further. Feel free to critique my ideas and my basis, I'm always looking for ideas to improve. Thank you.

Looks pretty good but a few suggestions; I like the suggestion of using multiple unit types but stealth and air units can't make a defensive line. they are better used for recon and to destroy unguarded transports. they can also strike cities where your opponent doesn't expect. Each unit type is good for different things. Also as you said, you cannot undervalue your other countries and cities. Leave units on standby in your capital but do not leave them there if your opponent is taking your other countries/cities. If you lose those his reinforcements/economy will eventually overwhelm your army no matter what size. Your strategy is also weak to stealth units. With stealth a good player can break a wall or circumnavigate it without their main force being spotted. If this happens half your empire could fall instantly without much warning. Make sure you wall off all your significant capitals/cities as well as your first. You can make sweeps over the ocean with sentry planes as they have a high stealth detection range. Good luck

I like it Sciopero :) Coming from a rank 4 this is quite impressive, as many players even on higher levels do not grasp the basic concepts. I also like the way you wrote it It was like a reading story. I do have a suggestion tho, instead of creating a net of 16 bombers [which would cost 4000 and upkeep would be 400 a turn] I suggest let them come to you and fight on your land. You can produce 80 PD inf with the equilvant cash, and upkeep would be the same. By the time they reach your land, you would have double their invading force and they won't be able to hold off. The biggest threat imo would be asia as the closer they get, the more powerful they become. You also can't wall with marines btw :) I suggest that you should wall with either militia or inf as they are cheapest Wheter to capitol hop or not is situational to me, I sometimes feel it more important to grab more capitols as they are generally richest and has most units, and if you have it, the enemy won't be able to use the rest of the cities. I do agree with walling extensively It is the key to winning the game, as it buys you more time and give you the ability to attack from behind the wall

I would suggest to spam Militia on citys insteat of infantry: They have 20 cost, which mean lower upkeep and also 6 defense. 2 PD militias > 1 PD infantry. As for the other, as PD you must send big waves of units to asia, and if you on asia then to europe. On america you are quitte dead and forced to play other non-infantry spam style. You cant really invade a far away continent as america for europe, and europe for america. so with america for asia or asia for america. Enemy can simply bomb spam and drow your stack on sea - which force you again to non-infantry spam style.

Aggressive Defense would bring you the greatest power, don't attack other players on reinforcement turn though, in cities such as London, Paris, Beijing etc,
