Hi Everyone!

We are currently looking for people to help us with game development!
Successful candidates will get access to the game source code and will be in charge of things like fixing existing bugs and adding new features and improvements to atWar.
The main technologies we use for the game are JavaScript, C#, PHP and MySQL.

We are looking for developers who know both JavaScript and C# on at least an intermediate to high level. Which means no script kiddies, thanks, but someone who actually worked on a project of a significant scale. Please don't bother PMing if you have just started learning these languages and haven't completed any real world projects.

If you believe that you have enough expertise in this area, please PM me your CV (don't worry, it will be kept private), ideally with your most recent portfolio.
Along with this, we kindly ask you to complete a simply test task, which involves the following:

A code in JavaScript that loads an image, slices it into X and Y number of pieces horizontally and vertically, then shuffles them and displays the result. A bit like jigsaw puzzle thing. Most importantly, it needs to be 100% your code. Please don't try and mash up something quickly, as we will be looking at the quality of code first and foremost. If you could do the same in C# - all the better! Thanks in advance for taking your time.


Depending on the outcome, if we manage to find a successful candidate, we will discuss the compensation and other arrangements privately, based on experience and the amount of time you will be able to dedicate to your new role.

so why dont you buy Anti DDoS Protector for servers , a solution for the problem ?
i believe thats not so expensive.
also the ddosers wont pay so much to buy strong ddos servers , the power most be below 10 gb , so the protection wont cost so much
also the servers arent as suitable as u say , we dc so much times during games in normal Conditions , i dont think like they're any good!?

Is there any truth to this, "The "shitty servers" arent so shitty, It's a combination of how the website is optimized and your PC/Internet specs.... The website allows a socket to timeout 3-4 times before closes, i edited my settings to make this infinite timeouts, therefore I don't get "DC" for websocket failed. I almost NEVER have "server issues" when playing home - xanxth". Is this something that can be manually changed to default? Or is this not something that would really help at all? Aswell what exactly is happening when a Web socket fails? I get this error anytime I try to host a map using Microsoft edge.

Learnt one thing from AW over these years - Never stop protesting until you get what you were promised:

Zone, the former leader of Aristokrats, spoke on behalf of the clan, guaranteed that they would concede, and were prepared to give up the medal. Pacifists stepped in, peace then restored, and you all know what happened next; Now, Amok, in response to immense public pressure, looks for senior no paid programmers to advance his own business. At the end of the day, past experience told us that Amok might, after the outcry was over, claim that he cannot trust any of these code newbies, and stay away from us again.

Lesson: Don't let naivety stop the strike.

You must be aware that crashes did not start with ddos but way before that. sure now it's impossible to play with ddos but even before that it was so hard and frustating people stoped playing cws and duels because they lost elo because game could'nt stop crashing sometimes 10 seconds before turn end. you get a game crash at least two time agame when you play. and when you specate a game it crashes every turn. it has been like that the last year and espeically recently (last half year)

Alright so from the looks of the problem, it is a fairly doable image parsing problem. I'll try actually solving it maybe this weekend, but here are my thoughts on how to solve it, in C++:

1. Include all the necessary permissions such as "using namespace std", "#include <string>", or whatever you'll need.
2. Create a function that takes an input of an image, and returns a 2d array. Your main function will run this function.
3. In that function, create two variables: newrandx and newrandy. These will be the new x and y values after the shuffling.
4. Create two more variables, called xheight and yheight. Parse the image and set these to the value of the image's height and width respectively.
5. From the image that was inputted, parse it into a 2d array, with its x and y values being the dimensions. This array can be called Image.
6. Create a double "for loop" like:
for(int i = 0; i < xheight; i++) {
for(int j = 0; i < yheight; j++) {
y = list(range(0, yheight))
a = list(range(0, xheight))
Image[j][i] = [y][a]
random.shuffle(y)
random.shuffle(a)
}
}
7. In your main function, use plot or print or some imaging library to output Image as an actual image and not just as a 2d array.
8. Run the program, and see if it worked. If it didn't, debug it and try to fix it. Use stack overflow if needed.

Btw, the little explanation I put up there is not complete, so you can't just submit it to Amok and say you completed it :D. Only if you are actually familiar with code will you understand what I wrote. Hopefully a bunch of people will apply for Amok's thing, and we will have a nice team of volunteers who will fix this site .

Yes, exactly. To those saying the connection issues are nonexistent. Get your head out of your ass. It may not be from the "servers", but some kind of coding/programming issue has been causing disconnects from the game/website, pretty much ever since hml5 was rolled out.

So much truth to this. Some annoying kind of server bug has been plaguing me where the map won't fully load, and at times even my armies will not appear at all. TO manage to even take my turns, I've been forced to do a shift where I play one game in Chrome, then the next on FIrefox, because if I don't the map wil literally not load, and at times refuse to accept my end turn. Other times it will randomly disconnect, despite everything else running perfectly on the browser.
